Centre for Citizens Conserving Environment & Management (CECIC)

Centre for Citizens Conserving Environment & Management (CECIC) is a Ugandan civil society organization advancing climate justice, community-owned renewable energy, and accountable environmental governance.

Founded to respond to the growing threats of extractive industries, climate change, and energy inequality, CECIC works at the intersection of policy advocacy, grassroots mobilization, research, and sustainable livelihood innovation.

Our work focuses on:

  • Strengthening oil governance and environmental accountability

  • Promoting community-owned renewable energy solutions as alternatives to fossil fuel dependency

  • Advancing agroecology and food resilience in climate-vulnerable communities

  • Integrating gender, health, and youth leadership into climate justice action

  • Supporting evidence-based advocacy through research, digital storytelling, and media engagement

Operating primarily in Western Uganda, including the Albertine and Rwenzori regions, CECIC bridges local community realities with national and international policy spaces. We believe that sustainable development must be locally driven, socially just, and environmentally responsible.

Through strategic partnerships, rigorous documentation, and community empowerment, CECIC contributes to building resilient communities capable of shaping their own energy and environmental futures.
