SUMMARY:Eighth session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (
 GP2025)
DESCRIPTION:The Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction is the main glo
 bal forum to assess and discuss progress on the implementation of the Send
 ai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. The eighth session of the Global
  Platform (GP2025) will be organized by the UN Office for Disaster Risk Re
 duction (UNDRR) from 2 to 6 June 2025\, in Geneva\, Switzerland\, hosted b
 y the Government of Switzerland. The event will be co-chaired by the Gover
 nment of Switzerland and UNDRR.\n\nThe next Global Platform will constitut
 e an important milestone between the High-Level meeting on the midterm rev
 iew of the Sendai Framework (May 2023) and the five final years before the
  Sendai Framework will come to an end. The event is expected to assess and
  discuss progress made in the implementation of the recommendations put fo
 rward through the Political Declaration adopted by the UN General Assembly
  in May 2023\, and to give practical guidance to accelerate its further im
 plementation. GP2025 offers a chance for all stakeholders to recommit\, wi
 th urgency\, to accelerate progress on disaster risk reduction towards the
  achievement of sustainable development.
